Raised in East Africa, a life of few boundaries, it was difficult to adapt to the rigours of a boarding school on the wind-swept cabbage fields of Thanet, a chilly coastal outpost of south east England. Nine years of eye-watering restrictions encouraged the enjoyment of the freedoms of early 60’s London, and a stint of teaching in Kashmir prepared the way for student life and a career in teaching.

This continued through the management of sports centres and leisure facilities, alongside the organisation and marketing of major events.

Four challenging years in the south of France followed, a wake-up call and a realisation of vulnerability and frailty. The ten years it took to re-balance eventually led to a career as a therapist.

The work now focuses on explaining why, and what needs to be done to reverse the direction societies are travelling, towards poor health and increasing dependence on synthetic medicines and overburdened health services.
